Wood Projects

Wood and Metal Wall Art

We were commissioned to make a special wall sculpture for a married couple’s 20th wedding anniversary. Since they have a daughter, the only theme they wanted us to incorporate into the piece was ‘Three’ to symbolize their family of three. We call this piece ‘Family, Always’. The three joined metal rings symbolizes their special bond as a family. The large wooden frame that surrounds the rings is made of segmented cherry wood, and burned using the Lichtenburg method, which uses electricity to achieve a ‘fractal’ effect. This symbolizes the sometimes fractured things that occur during life, but through it all, the bond of family overcomes it.

Q-Tip Band Saw Box

We use Q-Tips all the time in our projects, and we wanted to make a container to hold them in our shop, so we decided to make a band saw box in the shape of a ‘Q’ to accomplish our goal. The only problem now is that it is too nice to keep in the shop! Check out our YouTube video to see how we made it!

Fractal Burning Wall Art

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. We cut out three different shapes of wood, and then used the Lichtenburg method of wood burning to give it some style. Lichtenburg uses high voltage, but a low amperage, and combined with a liquid medium brushed onto the wood, allows the electricity to flow naturally following the moisture. Mosaic Wall Sconces

We wanted to put a lot of scrap cherry wood left over from other projects to good use, so we came up with a design for a pair of mosaic cherry wood wall sconces. Adding a piece of acrylic allows our handmade candles to look like they’re floating against the sconces. The link to the YouTube video of how we made them is below. Enjoy!

Wooden Beehive

We were commissioned to create a wooden piece of art to represent a beehive, but we don’t own a lathe. Not letting that stop us, we came up with a creative way of completing the project, using a multitude of sanders and grinders. As a bonus, we also made the display stand, which blew away our customer, who was not expecting that, but was very pleased! We think we achieved our goal!
